It's geared toward women and teen girls, and I would love your input. It's hard to find or get to ladies Bible studies these days, so maybe we can at least share some thoughts over the world wide web. While I agree that the internet can be used for evil purposes, it can also be used for godly purposes, so that is why I have chosen this venue. Time and money is not allowing me right now to attend vendor fairs or speaking engagements, but this I can do easily.

If there is a topic you would love to discuss, then please let me know. We are in this thing together, trying to make the world a better place, and the best way to do that is to share God's love with others and grow spiritually ourselves in a closer walk with Jesus. Part of that love is His justice, but thank God for his mercy and grace as well. He is a holy God and deserves our undivided attention and holy living, because He said, "Be ye holy; for I am holy" (1 Peter 1:16).

What’s the Secret to Defeating Anxiety?

We had a Sunday school lesson this past Sunday on anxiety, and there was a theme I noticed that rang throughout the entire lesson: FOCUS. If I were to think about the answer to anxiety, focus would not have been my first thought. I probably would have thought, “stop worrying.” Or I would have thought “trust in the Lord.” Perhaps “think positive things” would have been my answer. Other thoughts: “don’t fret.” “Have good friends to talk to.” And if nothing else was helping, perhaps a good anti-anxiety pill! LOL! These can all be helpful, and are part of the solution, but I like the simple word “Focus.”

When you think about what anxiety really is, it is fear. This fear can become irrational if we dwell on it. It can change our outlook and shade everything we look at in a negative way. It’s like putting on sunglasses and changing our what? Our focus. Our clarity.

What is it that we should focus on? Or shall I say, “Who?” The object of our faith and trust is the key, because if we are relying on something that can let us down, then fear has some rational place. Placing our faith, trust and focus on Jesus Christ is a reliable place because He is incapable of error, He loves each and every one of us, and He has the power to either change our circumstances, or change us.

There is a song my family is working on singing together that says, “Sometimes He calms the storm, other times He calms His child.” Isn’t that true? Sometimes we have to go through the storms of life, but God can calm us and empower us to deal with what we have to deal with, and that makes all the difference. Free will of individuals around us sometimes causes us pain that is inavoidable. The best thing we can do for ourselves, and even teach to our children, is to have the tools to endure suffering. A key is how to stay focused…on Christ, on the goal, on our purpose, on our mission in life, on the rewards that come from living a faithful life for Christ.

I loved the example our teacher gave from Daniel 3:15-18:

“Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.”

Do you see the resolve these young men had? They never lost focus on God. The king challenged the ability of God to save them, but whether He chose to save them or not, they were fully persuaded in their minds to do what was right, and to not do what they knew was wrong. And I’m happy to report that while they had to be thrown into the fiery furnace, they didn’t die, they didn’t get burned, and their clothes didn’t even smell like smoke! If you think maybe the fire wasn’t that hot, the men who threw them in died from being so close to the flame!

Another set of verses out of our lesson that stood out to me was Hebrews 2:9-13:

“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee. And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.”

My husband and I have determined to bring up our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. One way we can do this is by setting the example of how we trust in Him through our trials. Trials give us opportunity to let the glory of the Lord shine upon us. We know the end if we’re saved! We are made perfect, or mature, through suffering. We should protect our children the best we can from suffering, but when it does ultimately come in some way, which is inevitable in our world, we need to teach them to use it for gaining knowledge and wisdom to strengthen their resolve and determination to do what is right no matter the cost.

This is a good argument against strong drink or drugs. If our minds cannot focus, then we have lost our ability to fight anxiety. Some people drink to dull their senses so they can relax, but dulling their ability to think clearly can get them into trouble and cause them to lose focus on Christ and doing what is right. They can make choices they will regret, and not even remember what they said to someone to damage a relationship. We should stay away from any substance that will envelope our minds, even TV or video games or electronic devices if it becomes an addiction, which can cause chaos in our minds rather than keeping sound minds that can think clearly through troubles.

Think about how damaging the words of our mouths can be, with sometimes irreversible damage. James 3:5-6: “Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!  And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.” Powerful analogy!

We are not immune to trouble. Job 14:1: “Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.” How will we deal with trouble? God puts people in our lives to talk to and we shouldn’t be ashamed of needing to talk to some godly people who can give us wisdom and feedback. I am convinced that some of our friends and people we meet through life are meant to be in certain chapters of our lives to help us through those stages. Are you sensitive to help those around you? You may be that person God is going to use to help a coworker through a dark valley they are in right now. Peter lost his focus on the Lord while walking on water, and as soon as he looked at the waves and the storm, he began to sink. He looked to the Lord for help, and that outstretched hand saved him. Yes, he messed up by taking his focus off Christ, but he redirected it back on Him and didn’t allow pride to cause him to drown.

It’s interesting how Noah preached for 120 years, and only 8 people on the entire planet made it on the ark, and those were members of Noah’s family. Just because an idea is popular doesn’t mean it isn’t a bad idea. Noah was in the minority but he had the answer for the survival of mankind. The people mocked him. It seemed strange for him to build an ark for a massive storm that was coming when it had never rained. We can get discouraged when people do not accept the Gospel, especially when we see the state of our world and the reprobate minds that have developed. The Lord has to show people the error of their ways. It is best for us not to flip flop, but to know what we believe in and why so we can not only be fully persuaded and focused, but so we can give a reason to others for the hope that is in us.

We will lose focus if we look around at the mockers, and feel ashamed for our conduct in Christ. Romans 10:11: “For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” We will lose focus if we allow our minds to be affected by trying times. Look to godly brothers and sisters in Christ for encouragement and examples, but remember we are all human and all fail. Jesus is the only One who will never let us down. Show others we have a different spirit from the world. Keep the chains off your mind! Be fundamentally grounded in what you believe, and you will find peace in the midst of your storms. Pray and be honest with God with your feelings, fears, and anxieties, and keep the big picture in mind. The world needs a Saviour, His return is imminent, and He loves each and every one of us, and yes, that includes YOU personally. Take comfort in that. Read His word and pray, and stay clear and focused on what He wants you to do and the kind of person He wants you to be.

JUNE declared WORSHIP GOD MONTH!

Christian, do you ever feel discouraged because of the spiritual darkness all around us? Do you wonder what you can do to make a difference? Don't forget that darkness is the absence of light. It doesn't take much light to overcome the darkness. When we are too passive, we are not being salt and light.

That being said, with the power that is vested in me as an American citizen, I declare

Worship God Month! 

We can all post how much we love the Lord, praise His name, tell others about His love and provisions and His saving grace. We can flood Facebook and Twitter with testimonies of how He saved us and how much we love HIM with all our hearts, souls and minds. What do you say? Want to take a stand for righteousness with me and spread some light? He IS the hope of the world don't forget! They need HIM.

I posted this on my Facebook pages. Then I started it out with a testimony.

I'll start. I was saved when I was 8 yrs. old at Bible camp. I knew I needed a Savior and didn't want to go to hell. I believed what I heard preached at church and then at camp. I walked alone along a dirt path thinking about it, and then decided that I wanted to be a Christian. I praise God I did, because 41 yrs. later I have never looked back. I thank the Lord for His saving grace which has made such a HUGE difference in my life along this journey of ups and downs. He is my very best friend! Thank you Jesus! I love you!!!😍

Disney boycotting Georgia because it wants to save lives?

I was appalled yesterday when I heard on the news that Disney may be boycotting Georgia because of their stand against abortion. Netflix and others are jumping on this bandwagon. Here are a couple sites to learn more:

It hasn't happened yet, so our prayers can still make a difference.

What is this stand against abortion that Georgia is taking?  It's called the "Heartbeat Bill" and makes abortion illegal once a fetal heartbeat is detected, or at 8 weeks of pregnancy. The new law would take effect January 1, 2020. Other states have also brought forth bills that will protect innocent life from death where it should be safest: in his or her mother's womb. Mothers have looked to abortion as birth control, after a life has already been formed in her womb. If you play out the logic, it truly is murder because a life that would have been born and grown up into a child or an adult has been intentionally stopped short. The sanctity of life is something to value and cherish, and is not a commodity.

We all have as a moral, basic, human responsibility and duty to protect life, at whatever stage it is, including elderly and handicapped people. I would extend that to take our responsibility even to animals, as responsible stewards of what God has placed under man. Plant life is also a duty to work the ground and take care of our planet. But like it or not, the top of this chain is human beings because that is how God designed it. And we don't have the luxury of being irresponsible, because it's up to us to protect life and the well being of others. Criminals take what is not theirs. Life does not belong to us, but to God, even our own lives.

Genesis 1:27-31: "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

29And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

30And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

31And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." 

This is what God thinks about shedding innocent blood:

Proverbs 6:16-19: "These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren."

I believe that Walt Disney would be very much against this proclamation of Disney today. His movies were designed to promote morals and traditional family values. Disney was a name you could trust for quality shows and movies that were family friendly. They were funny but not crass. Today they are as liberal minded in their themes as one can get. 

The article from the second link (Newsweek) above states, "Iger said Disney would have to reconsider its productions in the state on the behalf of its thousands of workers who would likely be displeased with the ban, should it become law. 'I rather doubt we will [continue filming in Georgia],' he said. 'I think many people who work for us will not want to work there, and we will have to heed their wishes in that regard. Right now we are watching it very carefully.'"

They are trying to please their employees rather than taking a stand for what is right. How could anyone be against protecting the lives of innocent children? One might say, "Well, what about the mother?" The mother is old enough to reproduce, so responsibility becomes her mandate. God will take care of her if she seeks Him for  help. God hates the shedding of innocent blood. When did Americans become so selfish? Why are my rights better than anyone else's? Yes, a mother has other responsibilities as well, but those do not override her first priority in doing what is right: not killing another human life.

I first remember the selfish tones of our culture in Burger King's "Have it your way." That was fine, they wanted to show their customers that they were there to serve you, and make your burger the way you like it. But that mindset stuck. I want it my way! I want everything I want, and you better give it to me! One would hope that wouldn't be the conclusion drawn by that, but look around you. Don't you think that has become a prominent attitude in our culture today? 

When I was in high school, the kids used to say to someone being demanding: "Gimmes don't get!" In other words, if you are going to say "give me" this or that, you won't get it. You have to show respect and politeness and common courtesy first, and then your wishes may be accommodated. Don't you think that makes sense? It sure does to me.

I moved to Georgia last year. I love coming to the south because there certainly is a larger pull for moral values down here. But the battle is very hot down here. There is evil warring against the good, and as a democratic candidate Stacy Abrams who was running for Georgia Governor recently said (as heard in an ad commerical), "If we can change Georgia, we can change the South. And if we change the South, we will change the nation." Scary, isn't it? Evil has an agenda and it's working hard. We can't be passive, we the people who believe in moral values and the saving and valuing of innocent human life.

No, we don't know if that aborted baby might have been a criminal one day. But that's not our responsibility. No, we don't know if he or she might have been handicapped or a burden to society. Again, not our fault or our ability to know. It's simple: we are to protect life. That same aborted baby may have become someone who saved lives or changed the world for good. And whether we do good or we do evil, we are eternal beings with a precious soul, and life does not belong to us and is not ours to take.

Why is Georgia of all places targeted by movie producers? Because Atlanta, GA is the Los Angeles/Hollywood of the east. I didn't know that until a year or so ago. Atlanta is the center stage for a lot of filming. My daughter had considered moving there when she graduated with her cinematic arts degree. 

The Netflix article continues to say: 

"Dozens of Netflix series have filmed in the state over the years. Projects including Christmas on the Square, Holidate, The Liberator, the second season of Insatiable and the third season of Ozark are currently filming in Georgia, according to the Georgia Film Office. Disney similarly has a longstanding history of working in the state. The company’s Marvel division has filmed four comic book series in Georgia and 2018 blockbuster Black Panther was produced there.

"Producer David Simon, responsible for hit shows like HBO’s The Wire and The Deuce, released a statement claiming Georgia would be removed from Blown Deadline Productions’ list of film locations should the law be executed. Christine Vachon, CEO of Killer Films, Duplass Brothers Productions co-owner Mark Duplass, Colorforce producer Nina Jacobson and Neal Dodson of CounterNarrative Films have also threatened to discontinue production in Georgia over the law.

"Meanwhile, Lovecraft Country producers J.J. Abrams and Jordan Peele said their companies, Bad Robot Productions and Monkeypaw Productions respectively, would continue film their show in the state for now but planned to donate their production fees to Georgia’s ACLU branch and Fair Fight Georgia.

"Georgia’s economy would undoubtedly take a major hit should film studios and production companies go through with boycott plans. Just in 2018 alone, more than 400 productions filmed in Georgia."

We are at a crossroads in our nation. We each have to pick a side. The battle of good and evil is upon us heavier than I've seen in my lifetime. The question comes to each of us: will I stand? or will I cave into pressures, into evil, if the pressure gets too heavy and too hot? How much does money mean to me? Will it wipe out my existence? Will I be willing to give up my life or my wealth to serve God and protect life? There is more than this life. There is the eternal life, or eternal death, to come after we leave this planet. When our focus is on the eternal, the temporal in this life loses its pull. I'm all for wealth and comforts, but if it becomes my guiding force, then I have lost my way.

A PERSONAL TESTIMONY

I made a choice recently. I moved here from Connecticut and found a job, but it was a difficult one. The hours and the job were a struggle for me. I had a wonderful boss who found another job within the company, but it would be working at a casino. I would not be an employee of the casino, but would have to have a badge that would identify me with them. I also considered my reputation as I drove into this establishment. My job was to work in the health clinic, so I was not doing anything wrong. People everywhere need healthcare, and the casino was good to their employees to provide a clinic for them. But my conscience was not clear. I am a Christian, and I felt like my being there showed a conflict of interest with my values, like I was endorsing the things that go on in a casino. It could tarnish my reputation as a Christian writer, and I couldn't take that chance. I am against gambling, and of course that is a gambling establishment. One could try to justify it, but for my conscience, I could not do it. It was a difficult decision as the time was coming close to us starting, but as soon as I found out I would have to wear a casino badge, the decision became clear to me. I had to turn it down. I had to disappoint those who were counting on me. But the strong feeling in my heart that it was the right thing to do won out, and I decided to stay in my current position until God brought something else my way that would better meet the needs of my family.

So what happened? My boss was understanding, she called me the next day to reassure me that everything was fine on her end and asked if we were OK, which we were, and she reminded me of something she learned recently: just because an opportunity comes doesn't mean we are meant to take it. We still have to pray for God's will and follow His lead in all our decisions. A coworker took the job, and this was something that met her needs well. I pursued other external opportunities, but nothing else worked out, so I remained faithful where God had placed me. Then an opportunity came that is even better than I could have dreamed within my same company. The timing was now right for a change, and it did not cost me money or compromise my conscience. The hours worked out even better, and all in all, the pay worked out in my favor as well. I was patient and God blessed. He is real, He is alive, and He will work in our lives when we allow Him to.

Matthew 6:33: "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

So it comes down to this, dear friend, dear Georgia, dear movie producer: 

Joshua 24:15: "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

I Will Stand devotional

That’s the key right there, is getting your kids to open up and talk, because then they are thinking and applying the concepts to their lives. It’s a workbook so if the kids want, they can personalize it and write their own commitment to the Lord at the end. The Beautiful Role of Older Women

Titus 2:1-15 reveals something beautiful that we can sometimes forget as we go along in our busy lives. As older women, some of us have become accomplished, educated, experienced, etc., and there is much we have to offer others. A barrier is there is a cloud of deception in the air, and not only is truth being harder to discern, but humility is something foreign to many of us in the "me first" culture.

It seems like "everyone wants to be a rock star." Have you heard anyone say that? Any of us can fall into that trap. What is beautiful for a woman is maturity, kindness, a quiet spirit, and a gentle heart. Meekness does not mean weakness; women can be full of grace and yet wise and smart. Those who are wise and smart, as a matter of fact, will know how to conduct themselves appropriately. They will mentor the younger women, not looking for praise but doing their part to pass on wisdom to the next generation. This is something that is beautiful. We women need to be INVOLVED. 

Remember Uncle Sam's campaign that he was looking for a few good men? He wanted YOU? Well, God has called us women to be a few good women, to change the course of this culture toward godliness, purity, discretion, thoughtfulness, and wisdom. Wouldn't your world be a better place surrounded by people who are trying to be Christ-like? 

When we are all doing our best to grow in our character, we all get along better. We will be more tolerant of each other, knowing we are all trying our best to improve and none of us are perfect. We will have a strong work ethic. We will keep our priorities in line: God first, family second, ourselves last. We will encourage one another in the Lord, and build each other up rather than tearing each other down as unfortunately we women tend to do. Ever hear women referred to as fighting like cats? When we are humble, we don't mind that other women appear better than us. We can't control others' opinions; we can only focus on our duty: living a pure and dedicated life for our Heavenly Father who loves us and made each of us special and unique in HIS eyes, the eyes that matter the most. His love is unfailing.

Below is Titus 2:1-15. Please read this and then pray about how God can use you to make a difference in the lives of those around you. It's a very beautiful role that will bring you peace, fulfillment and contentment, and meaning and purpose to your life like you have never known before. Anyone in your periphery who could use a mentor? It starts with you setting the example, and then reaching out and touching others' lives, one at a time, in simple yet loving ways.

"But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

2That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

3The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

4That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

5To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

6Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

7In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

8Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

9Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;

10Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

11For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

12Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

13Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

14Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

15These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee."

Canaan changing Israel or Israel changing Canaan?

First of all, I'm sorry I haven't posted in so long! My life has been in a bit of a transition the past several months, but I am settling into a normal routine again slowly but surely. I miss sharing things that God has placed on my heart.

The first thing that I want to post in 2019 is a wonderful message by Pastor Darrell Scott. I may have posted this once before but it bears posting it again. I watched it the other night, and it truly inspired and encouraged me.

We are in a dark time in our history, and I truly believe the Lord's rapture is close. But none of us know the day nor the hour, but we are to be prepared for it, and it is our duty to bring as many with us as we can. After Noah entered the ark, GOD closed the door. The people had years of preaching and they chose to reject what they heard. They had a chance but when it was too late, the door was shut.

I want to encourage those of you who have not placed your trust in Jesus to do so today. 2 Corinthians 6:2: "(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)"  

Don't delay. Salvation is your hope. It is what you and I need. I have chosen to accept Christ as my personal Lord and Savior because I need salvation for my soul. So do you. That is truth.

What is also true is that many who have grown up in Christian homes don't appreciate salvation in the same way as someone who lived a life of sin and were saved out of an awful lifestyle. Many Christians today compromise with the world, and instead of changing the world and turning the world upside down, they instead become like the world. Just like Israel was to change Canaan and instead Canaan changed Israel, we Christians can be guilty of becoming like the secular world rather than shining a bright light into the world and attracting people to Jesus with their pure hearts and lives, dedicated to serving the Lord and not the world and themselves.

We are all guilty of this, but what are we going to do about it? Repent or continue on in the same way? I am repenting and I want to make a difference for my Lord. I love Him, and I love people, and I don't want to see anyone go to hell. I want people to know the truth of God's Word. I want the Holy Spirit to have opportunity to work in my life and in the lives of those I come in contact with. I love the song that says I want to be a part of somebody else's story of repentance. What a blessing!

Please listen to this in its entirety. It is a strong testimony and message. It is time for us to stand boldly for the cause of Christ. It is the HOPE of mankind. There is MUCH at stake, and if we are sleeping on the job then many are missing the message they need to hear. Yes, some will scoff. But yes, some will gladly accept it and be thankful that someone cared enough to share...share a life saving message that applies to THEM. Now...now we need to spread the Gospel. It is truly GOOD NEWS. It is not embarrassing or something to be ashamed of. It is GOOD NEWS!
